Tai Chi Chuan
Tai Chi is a gentle exercise practiced for its many health benefits – focusing on breathing, relaxation, and proper body alignment. Initially, Tai Chi Chuan was practiced as a fighting form, emphasizing strength, balance, flexibility, and speed. Through time it has evolved into a soft, slow, and gentle form of exercise which can be practiced for its well-known health benefits. Tai Chi is based on the healing art of qigong – both being part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine system.
Tai Chi is practiced to manage stress and improves balance, flexibility and endurance. Combined with the breath, the meditative quality of the movements help the body relax and regain its rhythm, ease and fluidity of motion.
Sifu Faye Baker teaches Yang style Tai Chi with all classes beginning with Qigong. The short form, 40 and 108 forms are practiced along with the Yang Tai Chi fan form.
On-going classes, private lessons and introductory seminars can be scheduled at your convenience.
Tai Chi is also written as T’ai Chi Ch’uan, T’ai Chi, Taijiquan, Taiji.
